A gamer's best friend February 19, 2010 Jeffrey L. Baldwin (Queens, NY) I picked up a Samsung 32 inch 1080p tv last year and the tv's only drawback was its subpar speakers. I finally got the money together to pick up a set of speakers to fix the problem and decide to get a shelf system rather than a surround sound system (who wants to deal with all the wires, right?). So I got this badboy and, I gotta say, my games and movies have never sounded so good. This system may actually have a little too much power as the bass can approach some crazy levels. If you're in a dorm room or live on top of people like I do then maybe you want to consider the 380 watt model. Seriously, I have yet to turn the volume up past 17 w/o fearing the police will come knocking.
My only complaint is that the system lacks an input for the red and yellow RCA cables. An optical cable input may be unrealistic, but no RCA input was a bit of a surprise. What I did was pick up a headphone jack with the red yellow converter, connect an RCA cable from my tv to the converter, and the sound is just as good.
Otherwise, the system's price, power, Ipod dock that charges my Ipod Touch while I play music, and the overall ease of use results in a very solid four out of five stars.

Great product February 14, 2010 Danny Richardson (Las Vegas, NV) I was searching for a stereo to replace the one i had before and i bought an RCA from walmat because it seemed to have everything i needed. Needless to say after plugging it in later that night it started sparking from the back, so back to the store it went. I was cautious about this radio because it doesnt have direct Audio jacks tor connecting it to the tv... but here is a little trick for everyone who is looking for this in there stereo. Go to walmart or your local electronics store and get a stereo audio cable. plug it into the pc connection on the stereo and then plug it into your audio jacks on your tv and voila you have it running with your tv. This system rocks.
BEST DEAL!!! January 14, 2010 Scott Bronner (Lancastr, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I rarely put the volume on max because my parents would get mad! It is really powerful and I would definitely recommend you to get it. The sound quality is good too! The only problem that I had was my subwoofer was dented but that's because I ordered it from sony style for refurbished at $143. The cords might be a problem to some people who wants to spread out their speakers but I don't really mind it. Basically it's a really good stereo system and it's very sexy so I would recommend to get it.
Great sound system December 30, 2009 xander03 (Chicago) Such a good sound system, definately well designed because it was very easy to get up and running. the subwoofer really helps give that bass its punch, not overwhelming, but more defined. also, if you spread the speakers apart, it gives the music more depth. for those that are more apt with the bass, i would suggest the jazz eq setting cause i found it to have the most bass response, but that option varies from person to person. overall, sony really came through with this product, amazing quality. the only downsides to this is that it doesnt come with the ipod dock adapters even though it has an ipod dock. i found my ipod classic to fit fine, yet, im just gonna be careful to not hit it for theres a risk to damage the docking port. also, theres no seperate bass control with the subwoofer, but i overcame that with the eq settings on my ipod, and my computer synced with the eq settings on the system, finding the right combination to provide the most punch for the bass. some people have complained about the length of the cords, i think they work fine, but the subwoofer cable could be a little longer since i ended up placing mine on the floor. overall, very happy with this purchase. i had a limited budget because i thought i was only going to get around 100 for christmas since my family decided to bypass presents and go with money so we could get what we wanted. i ended up gettin over 250, which was a nice surprise and bought this the day after. i would prefer this over the bose soundock cause i have no use for a portable system. im sure that the soundock 10 has amazing sound quality considering its bose, but if your looking for something to play ur ipod with, i would take this into consideration because its not just an ipod speaker system, its a stereo system with an ipod dock. in this case, i think that the engineers were more focused with the sound the system produces instead of focusing the system around the ipod. i am very glad i bought this, totally made my christmas present wise. its something that i consider a worthwhile investment.
